Shimmy Shimmy Fogmound Bop

For some time now I have had the idea that it would be fun to try something in egg tempera -- for myself, not for illustration -- and the catalyst for finally doing something was the idea of using the carved wooden dish gathering dust in the basement as a frame.  I cut a piece of masonite to fit the circular opening, and gessoed and painted it.  I'm pretty well pleased with the result, for a first attempt, but I'm not really sure what would have been lost if I had done the same picture in acrylic.  I suppose the next experiment should be to try a similar subject in acrylic and compare.

I love the brush strokes on this illustration. Great poses on the characters too, makes me want to dance.
